PROTECT OUR PAST

Protect Our Past uses media to advocate for historic preservation.

Short films, lectures, letters, photos, social media and more are proven forms of communication that inform the public of the importance of preservation and galvanize those concerned into action.

We are the creator and leader of the POP Coalition, a group of historic conservancy activists serving the Cape and Islands, focused on advocacy and awareness campaigns that monitor historic properties in jeopardy.

Using media to educate and inform, POP’s successes are growing. The United States Coast Guard Boathouse’s return to Chatham and the delays in demolition of 68 Shell Drive, one of Chatham’s oldest homes, are examples of how the use of film, lectures, letters and social media create awareness and energize the community-at-large to speak out on behalf of protecting historic treasures.

There is much more work to be done!

ABOUT US

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

At 'Protect Our Past', we strive to shed light on the issues reoccurring in the demolition of historic homes.

By donating to our cause, you can also help bring attention to these problems in a way that spreads information best- through the power of the screen, both big and small.

WHAT OUR MEMBERS SAY

Can't we all agree that we need to slow down and stop the demolition of historic properties?  Town identities are being dissolved into looking like "Everywhere USA".  Our country is young, comparatively. Let’s remember to protect our past for the future!
